Easy Guide for the Shiny Leaf Quest

As with the Pokethlon, another fun little trainer card star quest is the Shiny Leaf Quest.

Basically, Pokemon can find gold leaves based on their nature throughout the grass on specific routes. You must find five leaves with one Pokemon and you will find a leaf when you talk to your Pokemon in a patch of grass. This seems complicated but is actually very easy.

The best natures for Pokemon are Naive, Impish, Naughty, Jolly, and Sassy.

The reason for this is you can find leaves on Routes 1, 3, and 5 amongst others.

Take a Pokemon with one of the above natures and make it your partner. Save in the grass in Route 1 and talk to the Pokemon in every patch. It also helps if you bring along Max Repel to prevent random encounters. When a Pokemon has a red exclamation mark over its head, it means you found a leaf.

Once you find 5 of them, go to Blue's sister in Pallet Town. You will be awarded with a shiny crown made from the leaves and a trainer card star.

Hello guys, as you now, HeartGold and SoulSilver are able in all the whole American continent, and later they will release it in Europe, well, the official Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver American website posted the dates of the Wi-Fi Yellow Forest Event, it will be able for download via Wi-Fi Connection for all the continents, this event starts in April 1st and ends in April 30th.

(There are 3 special Pikachu that knows Volt Tackle, Surf and Fly, be sure to catch them!)

Crystal Islands started out as a creation of Sean Cooper nearly 11 years ago. Many remember the site best as Pokezam (which still exists as an outdated, buggy, and ad-littered domain, at least right now). It has seen work from two dozen people, and continues to grow. Getting new information is important, and indeed I have long term plans to make the site stand above the other resources you may see - to make it not just another fan site. I personally find Veekun to be in many ways a truly ideal site to be like, even if there's not much more there than truly awesome coding/layout/pokedex. Indeed, I learned much from working for Pokezam, and hope to continue its legacy, to make it better whenever possible. Below is a rough draft, leading up to roughly Christmas 2010, of things to do for the site, that I hope will be completed. But its still hard to say when.

Update coverage of the Anime and Games to what is most recent.
Finish the Pokedex and AttackDex.
Offer downloads for Sprites, PokeDex Data, and other resources.
Make all pages XHTML/HTML-compliant.
Finish and Release Crystal Anime Source Code.
Become awesomesauce.

We plan on starting our own Twitter account where the latest updates and what is being worked on will be posted.

HeartGold / SoulSilver One Day Away in the U.S.

Tomorrow, stores across the U-S of A start selling the latest Pokemon games, HeartGold and SoulSilver, the awesomitized remakes of Gold and Silver. Many people have already pre-ordered the game, and if you haven't GameStop and Target stores should still have copies available, at least earlier enough in the morning. I plan on myself going to the Target Electronics Center like I have for Diamond and Platinum when they were released (the latter I didn't pre-order). I shall see you again when I get bored of my Goldiness.

Sorry for the downtime all of yesterday. FiveBean really isn't looking like a very good server - I personally would not recommend it. We are now on a new server, and a new host, and after a few additional modifications to avoid really long page loads, the site is loading pretty speedily. Hopefully this lasts, and thanks for all of your patience. Also, I will be making a few updates (and already have here and there for the Pokedex) over the weekend, but in the mean time will be somewhat busy. Make sure to check out our PokeDex and Sprite sections if you haven't already.

Crystal Islands' main layout is simple to use, and can be fairly easy. It also works in the most recent versions of all browsers. However, you need to make sure you are using the most recent version. Here are some handy guidelines:

If you are using Windows XP or Vista, you might be using Internet Explorer 6 or 7. However, you need to use Internet Explorer 8 for this site, and numerous others, to work properly. You'll really enjoy the experience once you get used to your new set of wheels. To install this new version, go to its official site.
If you are using Firefox 2 or 3.0, make sure you upgrade to version 3.6. Its newer, and its better.
Users of Safari 3 will want to upgrade to the more powerful Safari 4.
Opera has recently released version 10.50 of its browser - make sure to download it.
Chrome 4 is out - it improves add-on support and adds other new features.

These browsers are more powerful and better than the versions that came before. Staying updated means a better browsing experience and less page load time.

So yeah, as you can see, the Pikachu Colored-Pichu Pokevent is on again!
Yeah, if you wasn't able to download it at GameStop, this is your second chance. I have to say that this Pichu has a different Trainer Memo and that it can be downloadable in any Continent. America, Europe, Australia, all the continents can have it!

Busy With School

There won't be a whole lot of new updates for the next few days as I'm painfully busy with school. I did, however, update the Advanced layout for whoever uses it, so now its working again (it was slightly broken with some recent changes). You can access this from the feature tab.

In other news, make sure to download the Pikachu-Colored Pichu, which is now premiering over Wi-Fi for most of the world on Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. Just go through Mystery Gift and then "Nintendo WFC". Remember, this will give you access to the Notched Ear Pichu in HeartGold and SoulSilver!

Server Update

Many may have noticed that CI's server has been steadily getting worse performance-wise, and the site is encountering numerous delays. MySQL, required for the Pokedex, also has been failing lately. As such, we will be moving servers either tomorrow or Sunday. During this period, we may be down completely for an hour or two, or may stay online the entire time. The bottom line is all this should have stopped by then. Thanks for being patient.
